The acquisition aims to deepen Summit's already robust presence in pelvic health education and extend its reach into specialized pediatric care. Kids Bowel & Bladder, founded by Dawn Sandalcidi, PT, RCMT, BCB-PMD, has positioned itself as the leading authority on continuing education for physical and occupational therapists specializing in pediatric bowel and bladder health.

Kids Bowel & Bladder's extensive course library and certification programs, such as the Pediatric Pelvic Health Advanced Practitioner Certificate Program launched in April 2026, will be integrated into Herman & Wallace’s platform, a professional education institute acquired by Summit Professional Education in 2025. This integration is expected to significantly enhance the ability of healthcare providers to address the growing demand for specialized pediatric pelvic health services.

The acquisition comes at a time when the need for trained specialists in pediatric pelvic health is increasingly urgent, with research indicating that up to one in seven school-aged children may struggle with pelvic floor dysfunction. With fewer than 10,000 pelvic health providers serving an estimated 40+ million Americans affected by pelvic floor conditions, and even fewer specializing in pediatrics, Summit's move aims to bridge the gap between supply and demand.

Paul Skordilis, Chairman of the Board at Summit Professional Education, emphasized that this acquisition aligns with their mission to ensure clinicians have access to high-quality education. "Partnering with Kids Bowel & Bladder allows us to reach a wider audience of healthcare professionals who can benefit from specialized training in pediatric pelvic health," Skordilis said.

Summit Professional Education, backed by Avathon Capital, aims to leverage the acquisition to accelerate growth and expand its network of instructors and courses. With over 400,000 clinicians educated since its founding in 2004, Summit has positioned itself as a leader in continuing education for healthcare professionals.
