Everything you wanted to know about Discoperi: Q&A with CEO

For the past few months, we’ve had a lot of questions from our community, potential investors, media and partners. We were trying to give as straight and as frequent answers as possible, but sometimes there were just not enough light hours to cover everything.

So, we had a chance to take a little breath, gather our thoughts, drink some cappuccino together with our CEO Alex Bondarenko and provide answers to the most frequent questions and inquiries. Let’s start, shall we?

Q: What is going on with Discoperi’s ICO and when will the public sale start?

A: Currently, we’ve decided to stay in private pre-sale round till the end of this year. The decision was hard to accept, but totally driven by a realistic picture of our development as well as industry-wise status quo. We have the best development team in place, working 24/7, we have massive interest from the investors (institutional funds interested in the blockchain, AI and mobility), and support from drivers’ as well as crypto communities. One thing that we are missing now is a ready-to-be-used product. Merely saying, AI (artificial intelligence) takes more time for the education.

Talking about the ICO dates we expect it to happen end of Q1 — beginning of Q2 2019. We have already done most of the steps (built investors’ dashboard, issued DISC tokens and made all the necessary arrangements required to launch a public sale). Once the full product or at least its ready-to-be-used part is there, we will proceed with the ICO. We want people to see what we can deliver and share our vision of a better future.

Q: When will System ‘EYE’ be available to the public and how people will be able to obtain the device?

A: First of all, let me tell you a bit about our AI development. Since May 2016, we massively proceeded in the visual recognition. What was as an idea, in the beginning, today seems to be a successfully done job. We can identify vehicles (type, brand, color, plate numbers, etc.), road signs, lanes and distance among different objects. This is a quite sophisticated level of AI advancement. However, it’s still not 100% of our final product. I would say that we need to spend another quarter or two on the building the algorithms and finalization of the full functionality of System ‘EYE’.

Talking about the timing, the first devices you would be able to find on our roads in Q2-Q3 2019. Starting from Spain, the US, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, UK, Poland, etc. We would need to conduct trials and testings. Thus an individual may expect to buy it in Q3-Q4 2019. It’s also important to mention that we already have a pre-orders on 3.5 million of devices, coming mainly from Europe: Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, Belorussia, etc. Thus if you would like to buy one, it’s better to sign up on our website as soon as possible.

By the way, we will sell the very first devices to our supporters and community members, in particular to those, who contributed during the ICO. In a way that any contributor may exchange his DISC tokens for System ‘EYE’ device. All the rules and conditions aren’t finalized yet but will be provided you with more details. Regarding where future buyers may purchase devices, we will partner with multiple partners, however no information here as well for now.

Q: You’ve announced that Discoperi will have its blockchain. Are there any specifics?

A: Indeed we partner with UNSW on the blockchain development as well as leverage expertise of Vareger — another partner of ours, which gained substantial expertise in blockchain building, auditing, etc. We work together with both partners to come up with the solution that may revolutionize blockchain industry for data transactions and IoT devices. Once it’s ready, you will see the use case for a blockchain in an entirely new way. And the core part will be our System ‘EYE’. We expect to demonstrate a beta-version of Discoperi Blockchain Protocol by Q3 2019.

Q: Will System ‘EYE’ be the only product provided by Discoperi?

A: Well, System ‘EYE’ for us is the main product as it allows us to achieve our main mission, which is to make roads safer by preventing road accidents and enabling drivers to control and monetize their automotive data. In the same time, during the development process, we discovered many new features, which are parts of System ‘EYE’ today. The coolest thing is that each feature of System ‘EYE’ can be brought independently on the market, yet still maintaining its meaning for the whole puzzle. It can serve a specific need of our users and take one or few of the problems down while keeping the track on what we do and where we go.

We’ve already started preparation of a couple of such “features” that will be available for anyone soon. We expect that at least one of them will be ready by the end of the year, yet not sure about the launch time. Probably, right after the preparation. Once it’s ready and tested, we will share the news with exact names, details, etc.

Q: What are the plans for the future and what should the community expect from Discoperi?

A: Our plans are very ambitious. Beyond finishing the System ‘EYE’, launching ICO with DISC tokens, Discoperi Blockchain Protocol and Discoperi Ecosystem (please find more details in Discoperi’s white paper), we plan to deploy our products globally. We clearly understand our role as inventors and executors simultaneously. If we work well, we will save many millions of lives. If we do our things with a great passion, commitment, and perseverance, we will turn the numbers of road accidents down to zero right before self-driving cars are everywhere.

From another side, we will also continue working on eliminating automotive industry inefficiencies, in particular, in data transparency, privacy, and monetization. We expect that by 2021 we will enable transactions of more than 10 billion data points. In every transaction, the individual driver will benefit at first, and he/she will be running the party. In the same time, we expect a huge mutual value for insurance companies, fleets, governments, etc. We clearly see Discoperi to be among the top-10 largest companies in the world. But we can achieve this position only by bringing to this world unique technologies and products, which will innocently serve people and making our world a better place for generations.

Discoperi Partners With UNSW Sydney to Develop Blockchain Protocol

The blockchain is the essential part of System ‘Eye’ and Discoperi’s infrastructure. Thereby, its development should receive the most attention to ensure flawless performance of all parts of the device’s functionality. Development of such an essential piece of software is a challenging task for any experienced developers, even those we have at Discoperi, and we are more than glad to be partnering with UNSW.

The research team at UNSW’s School of Computer Science and Engineering, led by Associate Professor Salil Kanhere, has been working on several blockchain projects for over 2.5 years and have collected an enormous pool of blockchain knowledge. This knowledge, along with the best practices of the UNSW’s blockchain team is now being applied to the development of Discoperi Blockchain Protocol.

Our blockchain will be tweaked to perfectly match the strict requirements demanded by System ‘Eye’ and its specifics and will include the industry’s best approaches to the Internet of Things (IoT), pervasive computing, sensor networks, and security.

Salil Kanhere, an Associate professor in UNSW, has extensive research experience in these disciplines and has published over 180 peer-reviewed articles and 25 tutorials and keynote talks. He’s also a Senior Member of ACM and a recipient in the Humboldt Research Fellowship.

UNSW is ranked #45 in the QS Global World Ranking and is undertaking cutting-edge research in blockchain technologies. Recently, a world-first trial for a cryptocurrency loyalty rewards program was successfully undertaken at UNSW. A blockchain interest group that brings together academics, researchers and practitioners from different disciplines such as computer science, law and business was established at UNSW in 2017 and has been actively running seminars and workshops.

We are glad to be partnering with such an open-minded institution and are looking forward to revealing more details on the Discoperi Blockchain Protocol soon.

Discoperi partners up with Vareger. Details and insights

In early September Discoperi established a mutually beneficial partnership with Vareger, an international company, specialized in blockchain, web, mobile development and backend integration.

Vareger develops investors’ dashboard for Discoperi token sale event (DISC token sale). All processes will be accompanied by smart contracts, which confirms the subsequent accurate transactions in tokens and absolute security.

“We believe that a secure smart contract is an absolute must to have for our partners and contributors, thus we chose a very strong and reputable partner”, Alex Bondarenko, Founder & CEO of Discoperi. ”Also, there was a great amount of work done in developing DISC token usability and its implementation into Discoperi Ecosystem, Vareger also helped to strengthen our position in the crypto community. We are very glad to work with such a strong strategic partner, expand our community and contribute to the automotive revolution”.

About DISC token

DISC token is a ERC-20 utility token, issued by Discoperi during its Token sale. The token allows its owner to exchange it to a certain amount of products, services, and data within Discoperi ecosystem. Many products and services in the Discoperi Ecosystem will be exclusively sold with DISCs tokens, while others will maintain significant discounts. For example, DISC token is the only acceptable currency by Discoperi Ecosystem in the process of selling automotive data. Once 3rd party companies and organizations will be verified for Discoperi Ecosystem, you will also be able to purchase their products with tokens.

Discoperi: Use Cases

The problem of accidents related to road transport in the last decade has become particularly acute due to the incompatibility of road and transport infrastructure with the needs of society and the state in safe traffic. Discoperi project involves the development of a model device + software, which mixes advanced technologies such as Blockchain, IoT, Big Data and AI.

Protect yourself, family and friends

Receive notifications when any risk is detected. System ‘Eye’ is installed on the windshield of a car, truck, motorcycle, etc. More than “just a camera”, it is a smart IoT device that is able to identify and parse data such as road situations, weather factors, vehicles characteristics and status, driving behavior. Upon capture, System ‘Eye’ transfers it to the cloud, adding new elements to the collective intelligence of the local community.

The device has such properties as a Full HD, a high-speed connection, (10+ Mbps), 3G/4G/5G and more. All these features allow it to get a full picture of what happens on the road and exact behavior of its participants.

Secure all important information with the blockchain. Data reliability is a crucial factor at every stage for System ‘Eye’. Data capturing, analyzing, sharing, alarming, storing and monetizing shall be sustainable and resilient from any internal and external vulnerabilities. A fast, secure and reliable blockchain is a must.

How System ‘Eye’ gets the data and monetizes it? Once the data is received by the cloud, there is a strong need to validate it. For example, to check if there are recent updates on stolen cars, etc. In case the system identifies the data from a vehicle as such that it has important insights, the cloud automatically requests from the vehicle additional information: photos and videos on the captured data. This data is then encrypted and sent to the cloud where it is stored. Later, this data may be used as a proof in a court and validation of exact records.

Improve your driving experience by sharing your driving performance to get better insurance premiums and cool promotions from the road services and partners. Another good thing about it is that you can get paid for the data supplied! Use your reward to buy products from our partners and services or exchange it into fiat currency.

For Driving Schools

The Discoperi project can also be useful for driving schools. Being a driving teacher, you can ramp up your students’ learning curve. Uncover hidden driving practices and traffic secrets for your students with a new AI-based analytical tool. Additionally, you can provide a remote support to your students. Be there when it’s needed!

Insurance companies

Protect your clients, employees, and assets. Discoperi transforms multiple industries which are heavily interlinked with the automotive sector such as Insurance Companies which gives a considerable value from being able to assess driving behaviors, and related discounts and rewards for safe drivers; or Fleet Management Companies — means autonomous fleet management which has the potential to become the biggest revenue pool in urban mobility.

Discoperi partners with ClickClickDrive

Having great partners is an excellent opportunity to add value, applications and use cases for any product startup. We have quite a significant amount of diverse partnerships helping us shaping System ‘Eye,’ but that won’t stop us from adding more.

Today we announce our new partnership with ClickClickDrive, a German automotive startup that allows people to find the best suitable driving school in their area and submit for driving lessons online, right on the ClickClickDrive platform.

System ‘Eye’ for young drivers

Together with ClickClickDrive, we will work on a span of functions for new drivers, which will enable any inexperienced driver to be safer and more confident on the road. The capabilities of System ‘Eye’ offer a possibility to predict potentially hazardous situations, that may be caused by any car around or by the new-coming drivers themselves, and assist with avoiding them.

We believe that inputs from System ‘Eye’ will drastically increase the learning curve for new drivers and will help anyone around with avoiding uncomfortable situations.

ClickClickDrive’s involvement

Our new partners will assist us in defining and developing the functionality required for inexperienced drivers, testing and tweaking its implementation. ClickClickDrive’s affiliated driving schools will help us both with real-life testing of System ‘Eye’ and with experienced driving instructors and their apprentices, ensuring that all the outputs of the device are compliant with our strict safety requirements. They will also be one of the primary markets for System ‘Eye’ to kickstart the sales once the product is released, which will potentially increase the money flow that we’ll be able to put into faster development and system updates.

We are looking forward to a long and fruitful cooperation with ClickClickDrive and can’t wait to share more new partnerships with other companies with you.
